Wanna race? The handicap for the 35s5 is a tough nut to crack. I'm told that early on 35s5's were campaigned pretty hard and given ratings that casual racers struggle with today. Ratings from 114 to 129 are common for the 35s5. Occasionally a easier to deal with 135-139 is found. You'll need very good crew and sails, but the 35s5 is certainly quick. Having sailed both the wing keel and deep fin versions of the 35s5 I find very little difference in upwind ability. Perhaps 3% or so is what you'll gain with the deeper fin, but some owners swear the wing can be faster. Downwind appears to be the 35s5 weak point and she's known to be at her best well to windward.
